NOW ENROLLING: Main Street Elementary

MAIN STREET AFTER-SCHOOL THEATRE

Welcome back for a spring filled with theatrical fun at Main Street Elementary’s After School Theatre program! This semester, we will be performing not only one but TWO fantastic shows – A Bug’s Life and The Jungle Book. These casts will be separated by grade level – 2nd and 3rd graders in A Bug’s Life, and 4th and 5th graders in The Jungle Book. There are no exceptions to the grade requirements in each cast. While the two casts will be performing in different stories, our class, rehearsal and show times will remain the same for both – we will warm up each day and play games together as one ensemble, but separate into our two casts for our rehearsal time within the class period.

Grades 2 & 3: A Bug’s Life

Flik is a misfit ant inventor who marches to the beat of his own drum – when he accidentally angers Hopper, the tyrannical leader of a group of evil grasshoppers, Flik decides to embark on a search for “warrior ants” who can protect the colony of ants led by the Queen and her feisty daughter, Princess Atta. When Flik mistakes a bumbling Circus troupe for an army of warriors, this group of outcasts find themselves on an adventure bigger than any bug could dream of.

The Jungle Book is now full – please email registration@westperformingarts.com to join the wait list.

Based on both Rudyard Kipling’s book and Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book follows the story of Mowgli, a human who finds himself raised by a pack of wolves and other animals deep in the jungle. Threatened by the ferocious tiger Shere Khan, who despises mankind, Mowgli’s animal guardians, including the panther Bagheera, decide that it is time for Mowgli to rejoin the human society. Mowgli, determined to stay in the jungle, ends up on an adventure where he meets friends and foes alike. Along the way, Mowgli learns the importance of family, friendship, bravery, and the “Bear necessities”.
