As our fiscal agent for 2007/2008, Friend of Olympia Station has played a vital role in our organization’s launch. WEST co-produced Here After Here, a sneak peek of Tandy’s latest work in progress and Tandy Beal dancer/instructors from Dance Around The World opened doors to global culture and tradition by leading a 7-week series for youth and adults. The wisdom and experience Tandy and her team of professionals lends is invaluable - thank you.
Santa Cruz Art League - T. Mike Walker, Board President
WEST is the resident theatre company at the Broadway Playhouse. As a business sponsor of the annual High School Art Show, WEST teams with the Art League in providing additional scholarships and awards and has launched a Literary component to this anticipated event. Speak My Piece Teen Open Mic, hosted by award-winning Poetry Slam Artist, Devin Murphy (Steady D) premieres on April 26, 2008. WEST is pleased to work closely with the Santa Cruz Art League on building improvements which include heating and air conditioning and refurbishing the kitchen, parking lot and landscape areas. The Broadway Playhouse has received new paint, functional work lights for rehearsals, installation of original artwork by Hunter Walraff and the addition of on-site management of the theatre. In the works for 2008 is new carpet, solid core doors and improved house lighting. Local groups and artists including Jewel Theatre, Christopher Palermo, All About Theatre and Improv Troupes Freefall, Um Gee Um, Loose Canon , The Funatics and Six Wheel Drive perform and rehearse at the Playhouse.
Invisible Speedbump Management IMPROV and Mothersong - Joya Winwood, Artistic Director
WEST is pleased to be working with Joya and her 10 years of mastery in creating and nurturing Youth IMPROV troupes. Troupes Dracula’s Molars, Water The Weeds, SPAM sha-Blam! and Cemetery Pickles all find their home at WEST. A local treasure, Joya works with ages 0-adult. Her music, magic and zest for life continues to impact generations of our community.
