Actors Studio: FREAK

Actor’s Studio  Although the Actor’s Studio welcomes all interested students, the actors should expect to delve into the creative process fully on the first rehearsal. A top notch program, the Actor’s Studio encourages co-authoring of the story throughout the process, development of strong theatre skills and the pride of excellence that comes from working hard as an ensemble.  Actors should expect to work on the play 1-2 hours per week outside of class time on line memorization and play research as necessary.

Fall Theme: FREAK

by Naomi Iizuka, Ryan Pavelchik

Somewhere in America, there’s a New Girl at the high school who may or may not be a robot. Freak explores the Pygmalion myth through skateboards, chewing gum, rockers, swimmers, poets, and a wild cafeteria dance number. In a world of high achievers and drama kids who want to change their world, New Girl wonders if she’ll ever be more than a Freak.
