Advanced PLAY: Bridge to Terabithia

Advanced PLAY is an open enrollment class for students who want a more intensive experience than the PlayLab but are not quite ready, interested or available in joining the Acting Studio productions.  There is no prerequisite, but students in the Advanced PLAY should be ready to work on script analysis and character homework between rehearsals and meet all off book deadlines set by the instructor. Additional weekend hours are required as listed and optional hours may be added if needed throughout the process.

Bridge to Terabithia

Jesse Aaron longs for an escape from the burdens and hardships of his life – from his impoverished family and neglectful parents, from his annoying sisters, from abusive bullies at school. When a smart, talented and outgoing tomboy named Leslie Burke moves down the road from him, the two misfits forge a friendship and create an imaginary kingdom called Terabithia, which can only be entered by swinging across a creek with a rope swing. Jesse’s life is transformed by Terabithia and his friendship with Leslie, and he finds an inner strength and an ability to overcome his fears and frustrations. Bridge to Terabithia has become a hallmark of children’s literature, as a coming-of-age story that deals with friendship, empathy, grief, and courage.
