Backstage Pass Technical Theatre

Backstage Pass classes focus on a general education of the technical aspects that support the performing arts. Qualified and expert Guest Instructors work with students on having a basic knowledge of theatre safety, backstage etiquette, job responsibilities and theatre professionalism. This is a REQUIRED course for any students who wish to assist or volunteer with any of the WEST classes or productions in the summer or during the school year.

Students meet with instructors from each of the departments that support the classes at WEST including costuming, props, stage management, administration, light and sound board operations and facilities. Students will gain an understanding of the expectations and WEST procedures involved in assisting with backstage crews or in the classrooms. There is a 45 hour practicum that can be fulfilled between enrollment time and August 20th. Instructors will place students in the areas of support where they feel the student and the program will succeed.

NEW!  Because Backstage Pass students have opportunity to work at all WEST facilities, this year we are hosting classes at every location so students may learn the safety, inventories and nuances of running shows at each location.
