Stories on Stage: Mr. Popper’s Penguins

Stories On Stage introduces students to the sequence of a play/story, vocal and physical control, and story creation incorporating music and movement. Students explore the vocabulary and fundamentals of theatre and performance. Each student is encouraged to express themselves with inspiration from popular children’s stories and authors.

Mr. Popper is a house painter of modest means, living with his wife and two children Bill and Janie in the small town of Stillwater. He has a happy life, but he is also a restless dreamer, spending his time reading of famous explorers in faraway places. When Mr. Popper unexpectedly comes into possession of a penguin named Captain Cook, a gift from his explorer idol Admiral Drake, the Popper family soon share their home with a family of penguins.  But how long can Mr. Popper handle these troublesome penguins before disaster strikes?
