Behind the Mask

This class has a visual arts and an acting component.

This class is a chance to dive right in and get creative with mask forms. Working closely with the instructor, students learn the history of mask in theatre, its influence on culture and ritual, then create their own masks which will be used throughout the class  Behind the Mask artists display samples, discuss techniques and  supervise creation.

Bring your mask to life through movement! Discover the postures, movements, sounds, and personality of any mask. Course includes special mask-theater exercises, guided play, and a chance to perform to the group. In addition, students will have opportunity to work with commedia,greek, neutral and other theatrical forms of mask.

All materials are provided.

  1. Grades: 2 – 7 (note: classes will likely be divided into 2 age groups as to developmentally appropriate skills in the curriculum)
  2. Class Dates: July 8-12
  3. Time: 1pm-4pm, Monday – Friday
  4. Performance Date: n/a
  5. Cost: $245
    1. One-Time payment or $66.25/month in 4 payments
    2. (includes a $5/month processing fee on monthly payments. Fees are based on total project hours)
