Advanced PLAY: Coraline

Advanced PLAY is an open enrollment class for students who want a more intensive experience than the PlayLab but are not quite ready, interested or available in joining the Actors Studio productions. Students in the Advanced PLAY should be ready to work on script analysis and character homework between rehearsals and meet all off book deadlines set by the instructor. Additional weekend hours are required as listed and optional hours may be added if needed throughout the process.
PRE-REQUISITE: You must have previous participation in at least 2 PlayLab classes at WEST or equivalent experience with a similar theatre program.

Coraline

A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life – only much better. But when her adventure turns dangerous, and her counterfeit parents (including Other Mother) try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home – and save her family.

Themes: Courage, family, fear, versions of reality, home life, identity, dissatisfaction, choices
