Centerstage!: Winn Dixie

Centerstage!: Get ready to learn about acting! Bridging the skill sets needed in Stories on Stage and PlayLab classes, the Centerstage! class ignites a young actor’s imagination, reinforces ensemble building skills and lays the foundation to discovering how to act as a co-creator on a theatre project. Using the selected story as a platform, actors will bring text alive and gain a deeper insight on the discipline and challenges of live performance. Here’s your chance to be an amazing character in the show of your dreams.

This class employs playmaking techniques – students can expect the script to be informed by each week’s rehearsal process and will be crafted in inserts each week. Young actors will be asked to explore extension activities related to the themes of the story each week. Students work as an ensemble to put their own spin on this story of friendship, forgiveness and loyalty. Through acting exercises, group brainstorm, and improvisation, we create a world premiere studio play.
