Special Interest: Costume Couture

Special Interest classes focus on a particular style or genre of performing arts. Qualified and expert Guest Instructors work with students on original works for the stage. Playwriting, Music/Voice, Dance/Movement, Poetry, Shakespeare or other period Style, Sketch and Improv are all potential themes. Students and instructor decide on the production value of their unique work of art. Creative expression by the students is not only encouraged, but serves as the basis of each work created.

  2. Dressmakers and fashion designers considered as a group.
  3. The high-fashion clothing created by designers.

Following the principles of Re-Cultivation, old clothing is given new life when students act as designer and dream up wild new fashions for the runway. Their inspirations and creations will be on display as an art exhibit during the Runway Project: The Farce Of Fashion performances. Bring along your sewing machine if you have one, a sewing kit and your creativity. The second week of class is a field trip downtown to gather our fabrics and materials. THIS CLASS HAS A MAXIMUM OF 6 STUDENTS.

  3. Class Dates: Mondays, March 15 - April 26; Costumes on exhibit on April 30 - May 2.  No class week of April 5 -9.
