Lion King: African Safari ~ A Mini-Musical

Who can’t wait to be King? Or Queen?

Add your voice to the Circle of Life as we re-envision the story of Simba and his friends, create the atmosphere of the African Savannah through set painting, costume design, drumming, authentic cuisine.

As part of our Holiday Safari there will be singing, dancing, acting and so much fun with the emphasis on the philosophy Hakuna Matata, “No Worries”.

You will be feeling the love when you attend our Saturday afternoon performance for family and friends.

Saturday ~ Goblet of Fire: Come join us as we unlock more mysteries of the wizard world, focusing on the themes, characters and magic of Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Play theatre games and activities supporting the story themes and dress up as your favorite characters from the book. Make and take home some of your favorite Goblet of Fire memorabilia. There are a few more magical surprises in store when you spend a day living the life of a young wizard. All craft materials are supplied. Please bring a lunch and water.

Sunday ~ Triwizard Tournament: Students will design their own wizard tournament experience in the morning then after lunch, the competition begins! There will be dragons, grindylows, mermaids, gillyweed, a menacing maze and the ever-present shadow of Voldemort. Champions compete for the honor and glory of winning the Tournament. All craft materials are supplied. Please bring a lunch and water.

A Turn-of-the-Century Mystic, Turning the World Around

Rivera (WEST Guest Teaching Artist, and Tomato Plant Girl, 2009) captivates audiences, with her original work told from the perspective of Lala, an incredibly imaginative and spirited African-American girl in the all-black town of Lovely, Kansas in the 1890s. The play captures the innocence and rapture of childhood while also centering on topics of race, gender and love.

Why does the Lorax speak for the trees? In celebration of Earth day and inspired by the characters in the Dr. Seuss book, our actors will re-envision the story of The Lorax, create Truffla Trees, costumes and characters and present a showcase performance for family and friends. This class focuses on the fun and wildly wacky world of Dr. Seuss and his special brand of magic. Space is limited, first-come, first-served.
