Fall Theme:  GREAT ADVENTURES AND EPIC JOURNEYS

What makes a great adventure story?  Mystery…excitement…danger.  In trying to define what makes a great adventure, our actors jump into an epic journey like no other.  We may time travel to ancient Greece, journey to outer space, visit middle earth, or enter new dimensions through an ordinary wardrobe and defeat a White Witch—the possibilities are endless and many more. Our time together will encompass imagination and creativity. Using the framework of theater productions, students will explore the process of translating stories into scenes and one acts and finally into an original theater performance. This class will explore visual literacy, creative problem solving and ensemble building all through the performing arts surrounding the theme of Great Adventures and Epic Journeys.

Spring Theme: KUNG FU PANDA

Kung Fu Panda is an action-packed martial art adventure packed with numerous spouts of wisdom, chunks of inspirational dialogues, and abundant interesting life lessons implanted in a simple storyline. Po, a slacker panda, is unexpectedly chosen to be the ‘Dragon Warrior’ by a shrewd old tortoise Oogway. Po’s lack of self-confidence and tendency to compare himself with others jeopardizes his success. But after learning end, Po is triumphant in defending the Valley of Peace by defeating the treacherous and villainous yet most powerful snow leopard, Tai Lung.

Messages we love in Kung Fu Panda:

  •  Live in the present
  • Be determined to live your dreams
  • Be content with yourself
