From the Director of Pepperland Odyssey and Comedy of Errors (meets The Monkees), Beyond Xanadu is the latest of the madcap mash-ups WEST will set loose on an unsuspecting public. This production is loosely based on the original Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem, Kubla Kahn; the 1947 film, Down To Earth; the 1980 film, Xanadu (that was the inspiration for the Razzie Award); and the Broadway smash sensation of the same name.
The story of Xanadu follows the journey of a beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 to inspire struggling artist Sonny to achieve his dream — a Roller Disco! However, when Kira falls into forbidden love with Sonny, chaos abounds. Live music, roller skating, disco, muses, mythology, and live music performed by Triceratops– can life get any better?
