WEST Class Policies

ALL THE NECESSARY THINGS TO HELP WEST RUN SMOOTHLY AND SAFELY

SAFE STUDENT POLICY

We are thrilled to have your students return to in-person classes this summer. To ensure that everyone has the best possible experience, we ask that you review the following for a satisfying WEST class experience prior to registering for a class.

Check-in & Check Out

WEST staff meets and checks in with each student when they arrive and verifies each student is with the authorized party at pick up. Parents may permit students who are 11+ to check themselves out of class, and WEST will verify they are leaving. The opportunity to do this is on the registration form.

COVID & General Illness policies

  • WEST is a large, tri-county-wide community. Many of our students (or their loved ones) may have compromised health situations. Please be conscientious. If you are not feeling well for any reason, please tell an instructor and remove yourself from class or, if you have not yet arrived, please do not attend class until you are well.

  • We generally follow public school guidelines regarding COVID-19 for returning to class. These may change, but generally, after receiving a negative test, or five (5) days after a positive COVID test, students may return.

  • Masks are a personal choice for all staff, students, and patrons of WEST.

Vaccination Status: All students are welcome to attend classes and events at WEST regardless of their vaccination status, including the COVID-19 vaccination.

Collecting Medical Information: In support of maintaining personal privacy, we do not require people to show or inform us of their vaccine status. If you would like to add this information to your Medical Waiver, you are free to do so.

Mixed Group Status: Because of those above, we will proceed with all programs, assuming that every class will be a mixed group of vaccinated and unvaccinated students. We will work towards keeping our community safe through common sense and collaboration.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

As students depend on their scene partners, class attendance is necessary. However, if your student will be late or needs to miss a class due to an illness, please alert WEST as soon as possible at admin@westperformingarts.com..

Performer’s Lab attendance - As an advanced commitment program, attendance is mandatory and necessary to achieve the ensemble goals. In the case of prolonged or frequent illness, actors may be asked to take a role adjustment or, in extreme cases, be moved from the program to a class requiring less commitment.
